the tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives.
death is a very common phenomenon of every day occurence and we face it but we cant exactly say what it is. It can be explain through a result. The life that has been pulsatin is gone, there is no breathing and no senses to function. So the body which has been active is now cold and stiff. Death is a condition when all that is connected to life is absent in the body.
tragedy is anything which end unhappily for all concern. Thus in tragedy we find the major actors dying and the play will end on a sorrowful thought.
When we speak of something inside a man, we mean only the goodness, lies in the heart, as refers by scholars, poet and even ordinary people as seat of goodness in man. Mainly it refers to love, compassion, charity and kindness. these is divine qualities which make man human.
the factors which help develop these human elements in man are many. first and foremost is the family unit, where we learn to love one other. We learn to live for other. we are ready to sacrifies for the sake of other members of the family. we learn the value of charity as there is a lot to give and take.
love is the fountain head of all good activities towards our fellow beings. Man who is not capable to love, is dead for him. As he cannot show love, he is not compassionate, as he is not charitable he loses all the good values of life.
7 years ago in the reminiscing of my late grandmother back in Muar, Johor who peacefully passed away on 2nd June. Her presence of love was a life but her absence is still endured, and I pray to Allah to enter her name as blessed people in heaven.
To live is to love others, otherwise living, we may be dead.
I remembered her as the one who ease my tears. I remembered in my childhood days i used to call her emak*. My childhood has been based in Muar, Johor where i grew up together with my 5 cousins in the big family house which is now herited to the youngest daughter of the family members, my maknjang. My emak used to call me kakak, and the best thing that lies in my fond memories about her is her will, patience. She would walk so slow, but managed to get to the final. And she has a good will, the respect of family relationship, strenghtening the ukhwah silaturrahim. A day before she passed away, the whole family members( except my makndak's family - she went to Perak ) had been accompanied her to visit one of the relative in Johor Bahru for wed ceremony. Although she was not feeling very well and high in fever, she was excited of the visit and never complaint. I cant beleive that was our last outings.
Both my parents went back to Kajang, while other family members went back to their hometown just after the wedding ceremony. my cousins and I stayed at kampung to accompany my emak as it was school holidays.
the next day, my emak was painstakingly breathing and asked me to massage her back. she lost her appetite and the porridge that my makjang made for her is left untouched. she looked pale, but managed to comfort herself with alhamdullilah, and zuhr prayer.
At 4.00pm, her pulse is getting weaker, her heart of all goodness pounded slow. Lter then we called for an ambulance, putting her on the strecher with the help of the late ayah long. Me and maknjang accompanied her all the way to the hospital.
Mak wasn't losing her consciences. she never stopped praying, and prayed the kalimah tasbih until the last moment i saw her entering the emergency room. It was later in 15 minutes while she was struggling with her life, the doctor came to me, trying to comfort me, grasping the shoulder and later i realized myself when i saw maknjang's eyes rolled with tears. Mak was peacefully leaving us with kalimah syahadah.
I was 14, too young to understand about what life is all about. so there i was running away, trying to get away from the fact, crying in the corner of the building.
Maknjang later then came with tender, hugged me and asked me to give a doa, may peace be with her. slowly i pulled my hardest strenght to enter the emergency room. after the prayer I kissed her on the cheek, looking straight on the pale, cold and stiffed face, i just cant stop crying, asked her to wake up. It was real. I hold her hands, saying how much i love her and this was the hardest thing in mylife, to live without her. Makjang told me her spirit was still there, and we shouldn't mourning for the lost. Her spirit of love overwhelm, filled the room and slowly it comforted me, blanketed me.
The great value of life is we learn to love, enchanting it by each day for the sake of the beloved ones. All these years mama and babah has been great, the members of family has been supportive, and the love of the friendship that last has been the greatest of the life itself.
Al-fatihah to arwah mak dan ayahlong ( 2nd June and 28th June )
kakak
